  • Cut the cabbage, onion and potato into thin slices and place into the SpanishOmelette. Add 2 tablespoons of water, 2 tablespoons of oil and a pinch of salt. Stir, close and microwave for 2 minutes at 800 W. Dissolve the dashi powder with 3 tablespoons of water in a bowl. Then add the egg and beat. Add flour gradually until blended, and a pinch of salt. Add this mixture along with fresh ginger to the container and stir until everything is well mixed. Place bacon on top, close and microwave for 3 minutes at 800 W. Turn over and microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds at 800 W. Serve with tonkatsu sauce, mayonnaise and shredded nori on top. Comments: Before turning over and continuing to cook, it is recommended to scrape the okonomiyaki from the edges of the container (as is done with the traditional omelette). If you do not have shredded nori, cut a sheet of nori into small pieces. Fresh ginger can be substituted for ground ginger and reducing the amount in half. The vegetables used in Japan to make okonomiyaki may be very different as is always the case in traditional cuisine. This recipe is the traditional Osaka version.
