Spiced Bread - Gingerman cake

What you need

250 g of honey 100 ml of milk 100 g of butter + 1 teaspoonful 200 g of flour 1 teaspoonful of baking powder 50 g of brown sugar 1 egg A pinch of salt ½ teaspoonful of ground cinnamon ½ teaspoonful of ground ginger ½ teaspoonful of ground clove

Así puedes prepararlo

1.Heat the milk in a small saucepan, remove it from the heat, add the honey and dilute, stirring. Pour the mix in a bowl, add 100 g of butter (previously melted in a small saucepan or in the microwave oven) and mix with a beater. Add the flour and the baking powder and mix vigorously to remove possible lumps. Add the brown sugar, the egg and a pinch of salt
2. Finally, add the spices and the cut up nuts, and mix until homogeneous
3. Oil the GINGERMAN CAKE mould with the remaining butter (only required the first time the mould is used). Pour the mix and bake in the preheated oven at 180 ºC for 30-35 minutes
4. Then, prick the cake with a toothpick to check the baking. If the toothpick does not come out clean, bake for 5 more minutes at 160 ºC. Let cool down, remove from the mould and turn over to decorate. Serve warm or cold.
DECORATE YOUR GINGERMAN CAKE WITH ROYAL ICING:
250 g of icing (powdered) sugar
1 egg white
10 drops of lemon juice
Preparation: Whisk all the ingredients for 5 minutes. Add the chosen colouring (better in powder or paste) and mix until obtaining the desired shade. Put the mix in a device to draw the shapes (e.g. Lékué’s Decopen). Draw the shapes directly on the cake. You can also draw them on an adequate surface (e.g. Lékué’s silicone cooking sheet) and, once dry, stick them to the cake with a bit of royal icing. The shape will be neater this way.
